Speaking at the launch of Pharma Month, Brid O’Connell, CEO of Guaranteed Irish, said:
“Ireland is now home to 10 of the top 10 pharmaceutical companies in the world. We are the largest net exporter of pharmaceuticals in the European Union, and globally we rank seventh.
“At Guaranteed Irish, we felt it was time to champion these companies that have invested in Ireland since the 1960s, by marking October as ‘Pharma Month’. It is because of their commitment to jobs and communities right across the country, that Ireland has been able to build such a strong track record in this sector.
“Not only are these organisations global leaders in medical innovations, patient care and research and development, but they have also paved the way in terms of corporate social responsibility. As such, it is with great pleasure that Guaranteed Irish is sponsoring the ‘Corporate Social Responsibility Programme of the Year’ award at the Pharma Industry Awards later this month, as well as the ‘Pharmaceutical Social Commitment Project of the Year’ at the Irish Healthcare Awards in November.” concluded Brid O’Connell.
