About our new members
Tracey Ryan, Bia Beautys owner says this of Bia Beauty…
I’ve always loved plants, when I’m out walking I usually have my head stuck in a plant, figuring out what I can use it for. It’s this passion that led me to study Herbal Science at Cork Institute of Technology. And it was during this four year degree that the idea for Bia Beauty grew. I was given the task of creating, marketing and selling a natural product as part of an Innovation module. I made a 100% natural moisturiser and sold it locally at farmers markets. The response was so positive that I continued to make and sell it long after the project had ended.
Also during this time my little son Feidhlim was born. While pregnant, I, like most new mums-to-be became really concerned about what I was putting into and onto my body. I began to make all the families skin care and toiletries; shampoos, nappy creams, moisturisers etc.
I loved the idea of combining food and skin care, to me it was obvious. The ingredients I was using were food; nut and seed oils, fruits, herbs, spices, cocoa butter, avocado butter. I was literally feeding our skin!
And so Bia Beauty was born.
As well as being 100% natural their skin care products are truly effective. The Detox Body Scrub was the only Irish product to win a much coveted Tatler Beauty award this year and their Baby Cream was nominated as best baby skin care product this summer in the Mums & Tots Awards. Tracey has and honours degree in Herbal Science from CIT, and she uses this knowledge to select the most effective ingredients.

Their soaps are handcrafted in small batches to achieve the desired results. This method of soap making produces a lovely mild soap which is rich in naturally occurring glycerin. Each variety has its own natural exfoliant in the form of flower buds and seeds, citrus rind, wholegrain and seaweeds. The color is obtained from plant roots and seeds.
At The Soap Box they believe that the more natural the product the more beneficial it is for the skin. They are committed to using only natural ingredients in their soaps. They will never use artificial chemicals or colourants. The Soap Box take great pride in their soaps and their ALL NATURAL ethos.

La Bougie - A World of Difference
There is a world of difference between a La Bougie candle, and the mass produced aromas of the High Street. Their fragrances are created in their own Perfumery, using essential oils and aromatics from around the world. A new scent takes months, sometimes years, to perfect and might involve as many as 140 elements - blended to capture that elusive quality which marks the authentic La Bougie candle
For a fine scent to be enjoyed fully, the candle into which it is formed must perform optimally. Superior burn quality requires a perfect match of wick, fragrance and wax - a combination which is only possible after many thousands of hours of blending and test burn. No two fragrances are the same, and it takes a blend of up to five different waxes and careful selection from over 15,000 wick and wax combinations to achieve optimum "scent throw" and reliability
Their glasses are custom etched and printed before being hand poured, at their own Chandlery, in small batches, using a process which ensures that every drop of wax is evenly fragranced. After a period in the curing room, they receive a final polish before being wrapped in tissue paper and placed in their signature sleeved box, watched over by a team who care about detail every bit as much as you.

The Irish Handmade Glass Company
After the closure of the Waterford Crystal factory in January 2009, a group of Master craftsmen with a combined total of over 130 years experience in glass-making, came together and made the decision to set up a glass making facility of their own in the very heart of Waterford City.
Located in the new 'Kite Design Studio', The Irish Handmade Glass Company aim to bring the craft of glass making to life for visitors to historic Henrietta Street in the Viking Quarter of Waterford City. Watch in amazement as renowned Glass Master, Richard Rowe transforms the molten glass into works of art before your very eyes. Our aim, along with keeping the craft alive, is to create beautiful, affordable glassware, both crystal clear and also coloured which is not only pleasing to the eye, but also practical to use.
In these modern times the vast majority of glass making companies now use automation to produce their products. Here at The Irish Handmade Glass Company all our products have been hand made here on our premises in historic Waterford City. Our glass is a non-lead based crystal, ‘Crystalline’ which is melted from its pellet form in our purpose built furnace which produces 385 lbs of glass per day. We welcome visitors to our studio to experience our craft and see first hand how glass is formed in the traditional way.

PIXY - Natural Skincare
PIXY - Natural Skincare is a pure, new natural skincare range, handmade lovingly in Ireland from natural ingredients, harnessing the healing and revitalizing power of Mother Nature. We use nature’s best in all our products including moisturising unrefined shea butter, cocoa butter, fast-absorbing sweet almond oil and healing vitamin E oil to leave your skin soft and supple. We use essential oils for their amazing fragrance; some energise you, others bring you back in harmony to calm you and soothe away stress.
PIXY - Natural Skincare came to everyone’s attention when it was presented on Dragons’ Den on St. Patrick’s weekend 2012. PIXY products were conceived and developed as an Irish brand that could substitute for imported products but that offered value for money as the range is priced at a 20% reduction to the leading imported brands, making Pixy luxurious, affordable, fun and Irish.
The product was originally conceived, developed and tested in 2010. Research and development of the product range started in the spring of 2010 and the initial phase was completed by spring 2011 when the product was launched in two local pharmacies in Mallow. PIXY - Natural Skincare is now being taken from the initial product development phase to being launched as a national brand and hopefully over the coming years as an international Irish brand. There has been considerable interest in the product since it was seen on Dragons’ Den with expressions of interest from as far afield as Russia and America, and we have been overwhelmed by the interest in the product in Ireland from distributors, retailers and consumers.
PIXY - Natural Skincare products are made from pure natural ingredients, handcrafted in Ireland. We are very proud to have been awarded the Guaranteed Irish symbol as recognition of our commitment to create employment in Ireland.

Cathy's Spelt for Health
Cathy Whitty, the founder of 'Cathy's Spelt for Health' started her business after suffering from a severe allergic reaction leaving her hospitalised. Cathy was put on an exclusion diet to identify the food groups causing the problem. Wheat was to be avoided. Cathy set about to create an easily digestible bread mix for others suffering also with the common wheat sensitivity using spelt flour instead of wheat. She was soon distributing her range of spelt products to over 100health food outlets nationwide and travelling all over the country to meet the growing demand.
“We have witnessed a lot of interest in our wheat-free products since we launched our range a couple of years ago. The biggest problem is that wheat is so prevalent in Western foods and there are few alternatives available on the market. Spelt has long been recognized as providing an excellent alternative to those wishing to avoid wheat. Many of its benefits come from the fact that it offers a broader spectrum of nutrients and it's also been found to be much easier to digest than traditional wheat” says Cathy.
We are currently stocked in over 100 outlets nationwide. In the past few months we have won Two Gold Stars at the Great Taste Awards for our Flapjack Mix and most recently won joint Gold at The Blas na hEireann National Irish Food Awards in Dingle.
