Founded by the late former Uachtarán na hÉireann Patrick Hillery, former Chairman of Guaranteed Irish Norman Kilroy, the late Professor Charles Dillon former Chairman of ESB, the late Dr Paddy Moriarty former Chairman & Chief Executive of ESB in December 1974, Guaranteed Irish become a household name.
Guaranteed Irish originated as a campaign by the Irish Goods Council. A decade later, Guaranteed Irish became an independent non-profit organisation in 1984 and was launched by the late former Uachtarán na hÉireann Patrick Hillery. The view was that Irish consumers could show loyalty to domestic businesses by buying goods produced here in Ireland.
Over four decades, the Guaranteed Irish symbol has become one of the most recognised symbols in the country. In 2017, Guaranteed Irish was rebranded and relaunched with the original logo from the campaign’s inception. The brand evolved and has repositioned itself in today’s global economy by opening up membership to international companies operating in Ireland who create sustainable jobs and are committed to Ireland’s global reputation.
Today the Guaranteed Irish symbol is the hallmark of the most highly esteemed brands in Ireland.
