Q&A Profile: Kevin Grant Director at The Green Office.

Guaranteed Irish member The Green Office is a family owned business which was established in 1993 by Maria and Philip Grant. Since then they have been supplying a full range of quality, cost effective and environmentally friendly printer cartridges and a full range of office supplies to businesses and home users throughout Ireland.

Kevin Grant Director at The Green Office talks the importance of sustainable product offerings, Brexit and supply chains, shares a special offer with fellow Guaranteed Irish members and much more.

Can you tell us a bit about your business?

We are a family based office products business based in Swords, Co Dublin. Our aim is to help SME’s nationwide with their stationery combining products that are both financially competitive and environmentally sustainable. We have four full time and two part time employees. We use our size to our advantage to help our customers in person, and pride ourselves on the level of service that we can offer.

What are the challenges that you face in your business and how do you work to overcome them particularly in the current climate?

Like all businesses, the last year has been one of huge change in terms of Covid and Brexit challenges. Covid changed the way that our customers work, and we quickly responded by pivoting our delivery service with safety and convenience in mind. We immediately began offering contactless delivery to our customers home addresses, insuring that our customers could continue working safely from home with the products that they needed. With Brexit coming down the line, we examined our own supply chains, and have made a conscious effort to source products locally where we can. Thankfully, this has meant minimum disruption to our own supply chains and our customers have continued to receive next day delivery for over 90% of orders placed

What do you see as the biggest opportunity for Irish Businesses that The Green Office can assist with in 2021?

Whilst environmental issues have always been important on the periphery for many Irish people, I think that in the years leading up to Covid, it has become much more of a mainstream issue. Since we began in 1993, sustainability has always been at the core of our business, so it is nothing new to us!

We feel that our product knowledge can help our customers to make sustainable choices when it comes to their office products without compromising on cost or quality.

What made you decide to become a member of Guaranteed Irish?

I have always personally and professionally tried to support local business. Growing up, the G logo always symbolised quality Irish products and services. We want our customers to know that we are committed to the local economy, and the G logo on our website and literature shows that we are committed to our local economy and we aim to keep money and jobs in the local area.

Do you have a special message for Guaranteed Irish business members?

Firstly, it is great to be connected to such a diverse network of successful Irish businesses.

We are here to help with your office products, for a free no obligation quote on switching your supplies to an environmentally friendly basket, please feel free to contact me directly. What can we expect for The Green Office in the future and do you have plans to expand to other product offerings?

As the way we work changes, so too will the products that we offer. Although traditional office products like copier paper, envelopes and others have been in decline, we have seen huge growth in demand for home working products like webcams, headsets and home office printers. As we return to offices, our customers will want to make sure that they do so in a safe way-we think that sanitation, cleaning products and Covid safety tools like rapid antigen tests are going to be important to help us on our journey back to normality.

We will continually aim to pre-empt where the market is going and make sure that we have the products that our customers need available, when they need them.
