The Chocolate Garden of Ireland

Established in 2001 by Jim and Mary Healy, The Chocolate Garden of Ireland is an award-winning family business making handmade chocolates, premium ice cream(Tipperary Ice Cream brand) and a wide range of delicious treats. It began making waffles, but soon diversified into chocolate making, and in 2008, into making premium ice cream and sorbets. The Chocolate Garden also offers gift baskets to cover all occasions. Their chocolates are gluten-free along with most of their ice cream varieties and all of their sorbets. The Chocolate Garden’s ethos is to use the finest quality natural ingredients to achieve the best possible taste. The business employs around 20 people and is located in a rural area on the Carlow-Wicklow border. It takes its name from Ireland’s garden county – Wicklow. It moved from its original location in Baltinglass, Co. Wicklow in 2009; the ice cream operations were relocated from Clonmel at this time also. The new premises also accommodates a visitor experience, café and ice cream parlour and attracts visitors of all ages to explore the joy of chocolate-making for themselves.
