Q&A: Daithí O’Connor Founder and Managing Director, Revive Active.

Guaranteed Irish member Revive Active is a revolutionary nutritional food supplement that delivers increased energy, maintains your immune system, and helps to keep a healthy heart.

Daithí O’Connor Founder and Managing Director of Revive Active talks about how the business began, what we can expect from them in the future, and how Revive Active has benefited from Guaranteed Irish membership as we celebrate Guaranteed Irish Food Month

Can you tell us a bit about Revive Active?

Revive Active is an Irish super supplement brand with its own dedicated manufacturing plant in Mullingar, Co. Westmeath. Our company aspires to enrich people’s lives using the best quality ingredients, sourced from premium suppliers located around the world.

We formulate our products using high-quality ingredients that are delivered in one single sachet to guarantee the freshness every time. All our products are delivered to the consumer in powdered form which is then mixed fresh each day with water or juice and consumed. They are delivered in powder as vitamins and minerals dissolved in liquid form are absorbed in the body more easily than in tablet or capsule form.

Revive Active was established in 2011 with a vision in mind, to become the leading health food supplement company globally. To date, Revive Active has nine products in its portfolio and employs 40 people between our manufacturing facility in Mullingar, our fulfillment centre, and HQ in Galway. We offer personalised nutrition for all ages with Revive Active, Zest Active, Teen Revive, and Junior Revive. We also supply products for specific support such as Joint Complex, Mastermind, Beauty Complex, CoQ10, and Antarctic Krill Oil.

What are the challenges that you face in your business and how do you work to overcome them particularly in the current climate?

Firstly, our sales team on the road is grounded and they are supporting the retail pharmacies and health food stores via zoom & teams calls. As a business, we have 80% of our staff working from home which is a challenge however we are a cloud-based business and that has made life easier. All our team at our plant in Mullingar have been working overtime to keep up with demand.

I believe having our manufacturing at home in Ireland has been a real strength for us in the current crisis.

Where do you get inspiration for new products?

We wanted to offer personalised nutrition to all ages so on our last three products we worked with the Kerry Group and adopted their Wellmune ingredient along with advice on taste from Kerry. Our collaboration resulted in our Zest Active, Teen Revive & Junior Revive coming to market just over a year ago and all have been very successful. Currently, we see an area that in our opinion has been neglected and that is our new product development focus.

Revive Active Family.

What do you see as the biggest opportunity for Revive Active over the next five years?

We see new product development an ongoing mission of ours, collaborating with the best Universities and companies across the globe. We will grow further in the UK, mainland Europe and we see the USA as a major opportunity for us.

What made you decide to become a member of Guaranteed Irish?

We are proud to be a Guaranteed Irish member as it is a symbol that is easily recognised. For us, to have Guaranteed Irish on our company cars, posters, adverts, and social media posts make all the difference.

Can you tell us about the supplements market in Ireland and emerging trends?

People are very conscious of their health and high-quality dietary supplements are seeing strong growth. In Ireland, people are very well educated and they recognise quality products this is where the growth currently is right now and not in offers of buy one and get one for a cent because commercially you must compromise your formula to achieve this.

In the current climate, people want to purchase products that deliver results not just promise. Immune support is in high demand and both Revive Active and Zest Active have eight separate ingredients supporting your Immune system.

What can we expect for Revive Active in the future and do you have plans to expand to other product offerings?

We will continue to grow our company and our range of products. During Covid we have added three new senior people to our team to help us expand our business. I believe we have the potential to grow our market share at home and abroad.
